 The resistive touch screen consists of two conductive metal film layers with a tiny air gap in the middle. When pressure is applied to the surface of the touch screen, two pieces of paper are pressed together and a circuit is completed. The advantage of resistive touch screens is their low cost. The disadvantage of the resistive touch screen is that the input accuracy is not high when using a larger screen, and the overall screen clarity is not high.

  Capacitive touch screen adopts transparent conductive film. When the fingertip touches the capacitive touch screen, it can use the conductivity of the human body as input. Many smartphones use electrostatic capacitive touch screens, such as the iphone. Capacitive touch screens are highly responsive, but the disadvantage of capacitive touch screens is that they only react to conductive materials.

  The surface wave acoustic touch screen identifies the position of points on the screen by tracking ultrasonic waves. The surface wave acoustic touch screen consists of a piece of glass, a transmitter and two piezoelectric receivers. The ultrasonic waves produced by the transmitter move across the screen, reflect, and are then read by the receiving piezoelectric receiver. When touching the glass surface, some of the sound waves are absorbed, but some are bounced off and detected by a piezoelectric receiver.High light transmittance, long service life.

The optical touch screen uses an infrared transmitter combined with an infrared image sensor to continuously scan the touch screen. When an object touches the touch screen, it blocks some of the infrared light received by the sensor. The position of the contact is then calculated by using information from the sensor and mathematical triangulation. Optical touch screens have high light transmittance because they use infrared sensors and can be operated through both conductive and non-conductive materials.
